Description
Solpadeine Max Soluble Tablets contains both paracetamol and codeine and is intended only for short-term relief of moderate pain that is not relieved by other painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen alone. They can be taken for
- migraine
- headache
- dental
- pain period pain
- strains & sprains
- backache
- arthritic & rheumatic pain
- sciatica
How to use Solpadeine
Adults:
Dissolve TWO tablets in 200ml of water every 4-6 hours as needed. NO more frequently than every 4 hours, MAXIMUM 8 tablets in 24 hours.
Children aged 16 – 18 years:
Dissolve ONE or TWO tablets in 200ml of water every 6 hours as needed. NO more frequently than every 6 hours, maximum 8 tablets in 24 hours.
Children aged 12 – 15 years:
Dissolve ONE tablet in 200ml of water, every 6 hours as needed. NO more frequently than every 6 hours, maximum 4 tablets in 24 hours.
If symptoms do not improve after 3 days, talk to your doctor for advice.
Not recommended in children under 12 years.
Possible side effects:
Constipation If you experience any other side effects stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately.

Warnings
Do not take more than the recommended dose.
Medicine can cause addiction if taken continuously for more than 3 days.
Solpadeine Max Soluble Tablets may cause dizziness. Do not drive or use machinery if affected.
Do not take other medicines containing paracetamol or codeine whilst taking Solpadeine Max Soluble Tablets.
Do not take Solpadeine Max Soluble Tablets if you:
have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, codeine, other opioid painkillers or to any of the other ingredients
Are breast feeding
Children and adolescents (0-18 years of age)
Product is not intended for pain relief after surgery for removal of their tonsils or adenoids due to obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome
With breathing problems symptoms of morphine toxicity may be worse in these children
if you experience the following symptoms seek medical attention immediately
slow or shallow breathing, confusion
sleepiness
small pupils
feeling or being sick
constipation
lack of appetite.
Let your doctor or pharmacist know if you:
have liver or kidney disease, including alcoholic liver disease
have bowel problems including blockage of your bowel
have a removed gall bladder
have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars
are pregnant
are on a controlled sodium diet (each tablet contains 427 mg of sodium)
Take other medication, particularly:
metoclopramide or domperidone
colestyramine
monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
blood thinning drugs (e.g. warfarin)
