Description

Small blood vessels in the anus can become wide and engorged with more blood than usual and along with over laying tissue can form swellings better known as piles inside or around the anus. Piles are self-limiting and heal on their own within a few days, with most people not even realising they have them.

For those that have symptoms, they can be quite painful and there is treatment to relieve this discomfort.

Symptoms could include:

• Bleeding: a bit of blood on toilet paper is not uncommon but should be checked by a doctor as could be a sign of something more serious.
• Swelling: you may feel lumps or blockage in the anus due to swollen blood vessels.
• Pain, itching and irritation
• Lumps around the anus
• Feeling like you need to the toilet even if you just have been
• Mucus discharge

Anusol cream contains a combination of three active ingredients:

Zinc oxide an astringent that sooths and protects the raw area, with antiseptic properties and which can reduce swelling.

Balsam Peru a mild antiseptic which protects sore areas and aids healing.

Bismuth oxide an antiseptic astringent which protects raw irritated areas around the anal canal.

Together they work to relieve the swelling, itching and irritation due to internal or external piles (haemorrhoids) and other minor ano-rectal conditions, including anal itching and fissures.

• Wipe with damp toilet paper
• Keep the anal area clean and dry
• Warm bath to ease itching and pain
• Take paracetamol for the pain
• To ease discomfort use icepack wrapped in a towel
• Gently push back a pile inside

These can also speed up recovery form piles.

• High fibre diet: brown rise, whole bread, whole wheat pasta
• Eat lots of fruits, vegetables and salads
• Drink plenty of water
• Minimise salty, fatty and sugary food e.g. fast-food, crisps and cakes
• Cut back on alcohol, tea and coffee
• Going as soon as you feel the urge and avoiding straining. Lean forwards from the hip.
• Trying to do regular exercise

Anusol Suppositories intended use:

Anusol Suppositories provide the symptomatic relief of haemorrhoids. The different active ingredients aid with swelling, itching and irritation of internal piles and other related conditions, such as anal itching.

• The mild astringent and antiseptic Zinc oxide and Bismuth salts soothe and protect raw areas.
• Balsam Peru is mildly antiseptic offering protective action on sore areas and aids healing.

How to use Anusol Suppositories

1. Before using the product; wash and gently dry the anal area with a soft towel
2. Remove the suppository from the plastic cover
3. Wash hands before use
4. After insertion the suppository will melt.
5. Wash hands afterwards.

Adult and elderly:

Insert ONE suppository into the back passage (anus) at night, morning and after each bowel movement

Children under 18 years:

Not recommended

Possible side effects:

You may experience burning, redness, irritation, itching, or pain for a short time. If lasts longer than a few days contact your doctor.

Do not use more than the recommended dose.

are allergic to any of the ingredients in this product.

have rectal bleeding or blood in your stool.
are pregnant or breast feeding.
