  • Get enough sleep

For your body to function properly, sleep is essential. Routine is essential to ensuring a full night rest. Adopting sleep-enhancing routines into your evening before bed can help with your sleep. Having a relaxing bath, avoiding stimulating TV or games, and writing down tasks, worries or thoughts can all help ensure a good night sleep.

  • Listen to music

Music can reduce stress and create a calming atmosphere. Classical music is harmonious and doesn’t have any lyrics so can provide useful background music when working. It can also act as a reminder if you have a playlist that lasts a certain time period.

  • If you’re ill, rest

If you are suffering from illness, then you shouldn’t work to the same level as you have done before you were ill. You will tire your body more easily and prolong your illness. Recognise your limits and ensure you get sufficient rest.

  • Manage your time optimally

Coping with day-to-day problems and conflicting responsibilities can often result in stress. Prioritising the tasks which are most important creates a strong strategy to preventing the stress from building up. Making a list of everything you have to do and then numbering them in order of genuine importance allows you better use of your time.

  • Work off stress with physical activity

Each time you exercise, your body releases ‘good mood’ substances in the brain which prevents the build-up of adrenaline and stress.

  • Breathe

When you breath in deeply, more oxygen can reach the brain promoting calmness which restores concentration and focus.
