Allergic reactions can become life threatening and being able to spot it early can significantly reduce the chances of it becoming more serious.

The main initial symptoms of anaphylaxis are:

  • A racing pulse
  • Excessive sweating
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • A sudden change in skin colour or tone
  • Respiratory distress
  • Swelling or puffiness (particularly around the eyes and mouth)

If the anaphylaxis is not controlled when these symptoms show, then the next stage of anaphylaxis is fainting and unconsciousness. You should look for immediate medical attention as it has now become a life-threatening condition.
